The Hobbitdirector Peter Jackson has released another video production blog via his Facebook page, following the cast and crew as they move on from Hobbiton to another host of lush New Zealand locations.
As well as the location-based footage, there’s also a look at Andy Serkis fulfilling his capacity as Second Unit Director. He seems particularly thrilled to be in charge of the sweeping landscape shots, most of which are achieved via helicopter. We must admit, it looks a great job!
Take a look at the new video below…
It’s interesting to see how Serkis’ second unit kept Jackson in the loop with what they had shot, with some nifty satellite technology employed to keep both units up to speed, despite their far-flung locations.
Once again, we like the room made for nostalgic musings, with Peter Jackson taking the time to point out the stream in which Serkis chased after a fish (as Gollum, we hasten to add) some ten years or so ago. It’s touches like that that have us clamouring for a return to Middle-earth like never before.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in the UK on 14 December 2012.
