New Prometheus poster explodes online

Brace yourself for a boom...

We were only saying yesterday that we're getting a bit fed up of seeing too much from Prometheus, but today we eat our words.

Because, as far as we're concerned, the Fox marketing team can release as many beautiful posters as they want.

The new one-sheet below manages the trick of taking a moment we've already seen in a trailer, and freezing it in time to make it look instantly iconic.

It also follows the 2012 trend of showing a star with his back to the audience (we assume that's Michael Fassbender engaging his curiosity circuits to gaze in awe at the massive explosion his colleagues are fleeing from) whilst still giving us forward-facing gawps at Noomi Rapace and Chalize Theron scrambling to safety.

Prometheus opens on 1 June. We absolutely cannot wait.

What do you think? Beautifully epic, or dodgily photoshopped? Tell us below!

If you tilt your head slightly the right the exploding ship makes up the pupil at the heart of a very angry looking eye - if it's deliberate it's a nice nod to the idea of Gods, and the passing of judgement hinted at by Scott and the crew.

Sorry but iconic is a bit much, it looks as about as impressive as a Poundland DVD. Couldn't they be more subtle? The originals one-sheet is just a glowing egg.

i agree with @Hadouken76 the original movie with the glowing egg is an iconic poster, i can see they're trying to entice the cinemagoers that dont know much about the movie they'll look at the poster and think it looks exciting (or at least thats what theymight hope)

Nah, it doesn't give anything away that has been given away already. I saw (just can't help myself when looking for prometheus info) a gif of what happens to one of the crew.. genuinely made my skin crawl.. roll on June!

Is this a spin-off of the Alien vs Predator movies?

i really hope this lives up to hype. however if it doesnt i would say that its been very 'over-marketed'. too many key scenes shown already. i fear what is left will be silly exposition and filler, to get from the earth bit, to the alien bit to the explosion in space bit. we know way too much and without an absolutely breathtaking effort this film has NO chance of living up to the ridiculous hype.

Poster looks awful but who cares the visuals look so gorgeous and crispy in the trailer even on my lappy so I can’t wait to see what there like when there burning out my retinas at the IMAX! Oh and if you don’t like the viral campaigns and images that are released don’t look at them... simple
