New red-band trailer for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters: watch now

Plus, a brand new poster

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has released a new red-band trailer, covered head to toe in splatter and looking every bit as daft as one might expect.

The film picks up some fifteen years after the events of the fairytale, with the titular brother-sister pairing having recovered from their childhood ordeal in order to carve a career out of witch-hunting.

When children start disappearing from a small village, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are recruited by the mayor to sort things out. However, it soon becomes clear that there is more to the problem than meets the eye, with Famke Janssen’s sorceress hell-bent on taking the two hunters out of the equation for good.

Check out the trailer, below…

The new footage certainly looks more even than the first batch we saw, with lashings of OTT gore lending a fairground feel to proceedings. That script still clunks a bit in places, but at least there’s Jeremy Renner’s considerable charisma to help smooth things over.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola and co-starring Peter Stormare, Thomas Mann and Zoe Bell, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters will open in the UK on 15 March 2013.

What do you think of the new trailer? Tell us, below!

Great, i was just starting to miss that wonderful feeling of being stereotyped and deserving of predjudice for practicing witchcraft. That spoilsport Joss Whedon almost ruined it with the last season of Buffy, but now we can all look forward to being social pariahs again, deserving of being hunted. ..........not.

Well now, the first trailer for this 'film' (and I'm using that term loosely) was out and out awful. This trailer was better so perhaps you actually can polish a turd, although it still has the distinct whiff of 2* review about it.

Arterton has all the acting talent of a toliet bowl full of undigested peas.

The American accents sound so out of place.

Sad that such a hot girl and a great actor have been paired up for something that looks so stupid.

This trailer shows a lot of improvement and I'm actually liking the look of it. Don't get me wrong it looks very stupid but come on we all knew that it was going to be when we first read the title. It's going to be an action B movie and that's what the studio were intending to do, nothing serious. It looks like what Cowboys & Aliens and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter should have been like (though I really enjoyed the latter).
