New Riddick image arrives

And Vin Diesel gives his take on the first cut

Riddick has released a new image online, with star Vin Diesel also taking time out to give his thoughts on the first cut of the new film.

The third instalment in the popular sci-fi franchise, Riddick will see the titular mercenary left for dead on a seemingly lifeless planet, only to find himself in the sights of a race of alien predators. Worse still, a crew of rival mercenaries are alerted to his presence, and soon pitch up in order to claim the bounty on his head.

The new image shows Diesel baring one of his guns for the camera, while huddled in a windswept cavern. And as if that wasn't exciting enough, the star has taken to Facebook to whip up some more hype, by sharing his opinion on the film's first cut.

"You know I like to let you in on things, even before Hollywood knows..." says Diesel. "Haha... Last night I was invited in to the editing room, to see the first cut of the new Riddick... WOW!!! P.s. I was so affected/excited... I couldn't sleep. GRRRR!!!"

Sounds like he enjoyed it, doesn't it? Well, we'll all be able to see whether his taste is worth trusting when the film arrives in the UK in 2013, with an official release date yet to be confirmed. Grrrrr, indeed...

Riddick seems to have developed one severe case or earwax buildup since we last saw him. I know he'll still rip it out and stab someone with it, but still...

Judging by the info we've been given so far, it sounds like they're trying to get an even balance of the survival-horror of Pitch Black and the action of Chronicles. Sounds good to me! That's probably the best thing they could do at this point.

Yep, im actually in favour of this, at least they didnt 'reboot' it. I didnt think chronicles of riddick was that bad really, a bit of a vanity project but there's far worse out there.
