New trailer for real-time horror Silent House

Elizabeth Olsen is scared stiff

A new trailer has arrived for Silent House, a new horror remake boasting the USP of presenting its scares in real time. 88 minutes of real time, to be precise.

The film stars Elizabeth Olsen as a young woman returning to her family’s crumbling old lake house to spend some quality time with her dad. However, as is often the way with secluded old mansions, all is not well within these four walls…

Take a look at the eerie new trailer below…

The trailer makes much of the real-time element, with the film designed to appear as if it were filmed in a single take. It’s an intriguing device, and one that makes a change from the increasingly tired found-footage format.

Olsen herself is hot property at the moment, having made waves at the 2011 Sundance festival for her turn in Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene. And speaking of waves, you might remember co-directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau from another real-time chiller in the form of shark-infested nightmare, Open Water.

Silent House will open in the US on 9 March 2012, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed. In the meantime, check out 2010's The Silent House if you want to see the original before the remake.
