New trailer for Stephenie Meyer's The Host

"This is the beginning of a love story…"

A new trailer has arrived for The Host, the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's sci-fi romance series, and it's bound to have its tween audience all of a lather.

The film is set in a distant future, where humanity is "all but extinct", thanks to an invasion of parasitic aliens. However, there are a few survivors left, and they aren't ready to go quietly.

Saoirse Ronan plays one of these survivors, as her body fights long and hard against the attentions of the parasite. And wouldn't you just know it, she's also part of a steamily heart-wrenching love triangle…

Check it out, below…

The comparisons with Twilightare obvious, but the film has a dystopian look all of its own, while the successful alien invasion angle makes a nice change from the constant running / jumping / hiding routine upon which Twilight's love triangle is hung.

Directed by Andrew Niccol and co-starring Max Irons, Diane Kruger and William Hurt, The Host opens in the UK on 29 March 2013.
