A new UK trailer has been released for Rust & Bone, Jacques Audiard's acclaimed love story that was one of the undisputed hits of this year's Cannes film festival.
The film stars Marion Cotillard as a killer whale trainer who is left horribly wounded when one of her toothy charges turns nasty. Scarred both physically and mentally, she goes on to form a bond with a violent brawler (Matthias Schoenarts) who has recently become the primary carer for his young son.
Being aimed at the UK market, the new trailer bypasses the French dialogue in favour of mood and atmosphere, and it's arguably all the more beautiful for it.
Take a look, below…
We caught the film during our time in Cannes and were hugely impressed, with Audiard's follow-up to A Prophet proving every bit as affecting, with a pair of powerhouse lead performances from Cotillard and Schoenarts.
The French director might have missed out to Michael Haneke in the Palme d'Or stakes, but he can be immensely proud of a film that is sure to receive another critical lauding come its theatrical release. Rust & Bone opens in the UK on 2 November 2012.
