Sylvester Stallone has stated he wants to re-unite Face/Off leads Nic Cage and John Travolta in Expendables 2. Currently, the only thing standing in the way is scheduling.
Oh, and he's also confirmed that Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme will definitely be appearing in the action sequel.
And we can reveal that this news story is so awesome you should probably read the rest of it through a pair of binoculars as it may well explode in a shower of win.
Stallone said: "We’ll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one."
“We’ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage,” he continued. “We’re trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot."
Which, to be fair, is a bit of a back-handed compliment really.
When pressed about rumours Travolta would be appearing, Stallone said: “It’s possible. The one thing I’ve learned is what is a fact on Monday is a complete fallacy on Tuesday. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial.”
We're personally hoping that scheduling will also allow Billy Blanks and Ted Prior to appear. Well, we can dream, can't we?

JCVD should bring Scott Adkins along with him

He's not talking about Cage or Norris as people who 'had a moment then fell on hard times' - he specifically mentions Michael Biehn and Michael Pare as examples of that idea if you read it in its entirety. I would love to see those guys in this; after Terminator, Aliens and Abyss, Biehn seemed destined to be a huge star, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. Pare too is terrific in Streets Of Fire, amongst other things. This would be very generous of Sly if it panned out. http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/09/13/sylvester-stallone-expendables-2-exclusive/

The first one sucked. I doubt this will be any better, regardless of how many huge action names, old or young, are attached. You can't just toss a bunch of icons into the pot and forgot to stir in dialogue and plot, or the dollop of intelligence that even mindless action flicks still need. I will still go see it, but I will definitely be going to a cheaper matinee showing.

Can't quite believe that Dalidab, the ignorant s******d that decided he wanted justin bieber george sampson and a bunch of his other little boy pinups in the expendables 2 as the main characters' sons is complaining of superfluous casting... oh the irony.

Sly is sensitive to fan feedback/criticism, as evidenced by his decision to hire someone else to direct and write the script this time. Which suggests we should be cautiously optimistic about this sequel.

The first one was bloody terrible.. it had no plot no characters and the action scenes were extremely pedestrian..

Now all they need is Carl Weathers and "hey baby, we got a stew going."

Who cares about all these 80s actors. The Best thing about the first Expendables was the 15 seconds Terry Crewes is at the forefront. They can stick Chuck Norris or Seagall I'd actually watch the sequel if Terry Crewes got a bigger role.
