Nicolas Cage gets Vanished

He’ll star in a new drama

Nicolas Cage has signed up to star in The Vanished for Focus Features.

No, he’s not planning to disappear, it’s a drama about a father whose college-aged American-Muslim son goes missing overseas, and the quest he undertakes to find him.

And the director taking on the movie is someone who knows about Middle-Eastern challenges: Hany Abu-Assad was the man behind Paradise Now, the Oscar-nominated tale of two Palestinian youths who are corralled into becoming suicide bombers.

It’ll mark the start of a busy period for Cage, as he’s already signed to make The Wrestler in January for Darren Aronofsky before The Vanished gears up in April.
