The remake tidal wave really has gotten out of control – it’s now started to swallow up ‘90s cop thrillers.
Werner Herzog has decided that what he really wants to do is make a new version of cult Harvey Keitel film Bad Lieutenant. If you haven’t seen it, it features Keitel as the titular cop whose methods are… well, unorthodox doesn’t quite cover it. In one scene, he masturbates in front of a terrified pair of teenage girls.
So who is the man taking on the role? None other than Nicolas Cage. It all kicks off shooting in July, with producer Avi Lerner promising it’ll be just as filthy. We can hardly wait… The Hollywood Reporter is finding its badge.
