No Mad Max 4 for Gibson

Not even a cameo...

Mel Gibson has exclusively revealed to Australian movie website Dark Horizons that he will not be taking part in the fourth Mad Max film.

Attending press duties for his upcoming Edge of Darkness, the actor was asked if George Miller had approached him about returning to the role for Mad Max: Fury Road.

In response, Gibson said:

“No, not at all. We’ve talked about it. We said – ‘Hey, how you doing.’ You know, we’ve cleared it. It’s no biggie. No biggie. It’s [Miller’s] franchise. It’s his to do with as he wishes and I’m looking forward to seeing it. Good luck to him.

“I mean, I think he’s a genius. Everything he does, everything he turns his hand to, is somehow, extraordinary. So, I can't wait to see what he does with it.”

Miller has already previously confirmed that Gibson wouldn’t be the new film’s lead, opting instead for a younger star.

But with Gibson out entirely, who can we expect to put the medal to the petal in Miller’s fourth road trip across the blistered landscape of a post-apocalyptic Australia?

me too, well if we can't have Mel or Tom, what about ol jesus Christ himself, Jim Caviezel, mean, moody and as seen in Highwaymen, handy with a car too.

Australian? Looks good in a dystopian future? Can anyone else say Sam Worthington?

It would be nice to see Sam Worthington without a dodgy accent. I hope Tom Hardy has been cast , he deserves to be in a big franchise movie.

Just watched Mad Max 2 on tv tonight. Tom Hardy good actor, good choice. Only obvious choices for the role other than Mel are Eric Bana, Karl Urban, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. All these in the right age group .
