“It’s unbelievable”

Noomi Rapace has quickly turned into the go-to gal for action when a kick-ass role needs filling. Which is clearly why she’s been chosen by Ridley Scott to star in his mysterious sci-fi Prometheus.

The Swedish Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress has spoken with MTV about her involvement in the film, revealing that she’s jumping straight into filming after having completed Sherlock Holmes sequel A Game Of Shadows.

“My character’s name is Elizabeth Shaw,” she confirms, “and I’ll step into her shoes in March and be her for six months or something. It’s quite a long shoot. It’s unbelievable.

“She’s definitely her own [character]. She’s a scientist and is very bright. She’s a believer. I think there are some similarities [to Ripley], but she’s very much her own.

"I don’t think people will compare her so much to Ripley once they see the movie.”

Meanwhile, Hot Fuzz actor Rafe Spall has also joined Prometheus, which is reportedly set in the same universe as Alien, but is its own stand-alone movie.

Awesome? Or awful? Looking forward to seeing with Ridley Scott does with Prometheus? Sound off below...

For some reason I'm annoyed and excited about this film, I wish they'd make up their minds... "Well its sort of to do with Alien, but its not really..no..but sort of..."

It's been fashionable lately to criticize Ridley Scott's more recent work. I guess I'm not as hard to please as I thought, because I liked everything. And forgave whatever bugged some because they are @#%&*! movies, NOT historical treatises, which BTW are often filled with fabrication & bias. So... I'm looking forward to PROMETHEUS, especially seeing Noomi Rapace work again. I'd have watched 3 more of the Lisbeth Salander series if they existed - she was incredible.

I understand what Hadouken76 means about the news on this film being annoying and exciting in equal measure but it could turn out to be a good thing not knowing the full extent of the link between this and the original Alien films. Personally, I think it's a good thing and refreshing, that a new film with a talented cast and director attached, have managed to keep the main plot points of a film such a mystery to the media and general public in this day and age, where as the internet usually has spoilers for every upcoming film in abundance. It's frustrating not knowing everything in the lead up to a film your excited about seeing but most of the time, I think the majority of people are pleased they didn't know everything by the time they go to see it. Inception is the last film to manage to keep a lot of it's plot points secret, up until it was released and I enjoyed it more for it. Also, Noomi Rapace was incredible in the millenium trilogy and I'm yet to see Michael Fassbender in a film I don't like, so I have a good feeling that this could live up to expectations.

The movie sounds really intriguing. Apparently there's going to be forced Male Rape in it, well that's according to an article in one of the previous Empire issues.
