Much as we loved Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, he’s far more fun when channelling his inner villain, which bodes well for his starring role in indie gangster flick Criminal Empire For Dummys.
The film (the title of which is apparently spelled like that- our subs haven’t been dozing off again) will be the feature debut from Entourage writer Cliff Dorfman, and will chronicle the rise of young wiseguy Milo Ventimiglia from whipping-boy to gangland kingpin.
No word on Oldman’s character as yet, but we’re hoping he’ll be on senior-mobster duties. Meabwhile, Variety have revealed a cracking supporting cast is in place, including roles for Harvey Keitel, Michael Clarke Duncan and Watchmen’s Malin Akerman.
Sounds promising to us, even if the old "rise and fall of a mobster" plot is looking a bit dog-eared. Hopefully the wealth of talent on show will ensure it adds up to more than the sum of its’ parts.
Starey-eyed loon, or crusading copper? How do you prefer your Oldman?
