Oscar announces its 2009 dates

You’ll have to wait longer for the nominations…

Summer has yet to officially start, but the far-seeing folks over at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has already decided when to hold next year’s Oscars.

There are no real surprises for most of it – the Academy is sticking with its current late February schedule – mark 22 February on your calendars for the event itself.

The nominations, however, are shifting by two days to 22 January, since 20 January is the day when another slightly important event decided by voting happens – the US will be welcoming a new President into the White House. But will that ceremony feature Daniel Day Lewis drinking a milkshake? We highly doubt it, and therefore shall not attend.

The Hollywood Reporter is having its tux cleaned.
