Paranormal Activity director to adapt Eliza Graves

Will helm Edgar Allan Poe story

Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli has decided on his next directing gig, and he’s sticking firmly to scaremongering territory.

Not only that, but Peli’s gone to the master of literary horror for inspiration, having signed on to helm an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s chill-inducing short story Eliza Graves.

The story revolves around a Harvard med graduate who gets a job at an asylum, blissfully unaware that the establishment has been taken over by its nutty inmates.

Jodie Foster (wearing her director's hat), Ian McKellen and Natalie Portman have all been interested in an adap of the story for years, though it’s not clear whether any of them have been approached by Peli regarding his version.

First, though, Peli’s mysterious Area 51 – about teens who stumble upon the Nevada ET hot spot – is due for release sometime next year.
