The Ghostbusters 3 saga continues to rumble on and on, with Variety reporting that Sony has been in discussion with Paul Feig to occupy the director’s chair.
Interestingly enough, the report goes on to claim that the film will not be a sequel, as had previously been reported, but will instead be a total reboot of the franchise.
According to Variety, the new film will position a group of comedy actresses in the ghostbusting roles, with a new script to be written from scratch.
That would certainly seem to fit with Feig’s MO, after his success with the likes of Bridesmaids and The Heat, although we would hope that there’s still room for Dan Aykroyd in there somewhere…
The report does mention that official negotiations have yet to take place between director and studio, so nothing has been set in stone as yet. Given the frequency of Ghostbusters rumours over the past decade or so, we won’t hold our breath…
Would Feig be a good fit for the project? Tell us, below!
