Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler star in new trailer for They Came Together: watch now

"Kind of a corny romantic comedy story"

A new trailer has arrived online for They Came Together, in which Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd take aim at every tired rom-com cliche in the book.

As the duo sit down to dinner with Ellie Kemper and Bill Hader, they set about telling the story of how they met and fell in love, just like it happens in the movies!

And so sure enough, along comes a parade of charming misunderstandings, unsuitable dates (hello Ed Helms), questionable romantic advice, and eventually, the happy ending.

In the hands of anyone else, there's a danger that simply trotting out a string of overused tropes would become a tad wearing, but Poehler and Rudd are two of the most likeable comic actors in the business, and more than up to the job.

Directed by David Wain and co-starring Cobie Smulders, Christopher Meloni and Ken Marino, They Came Together opens in the US on 27 June 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.
