Pen To Paper: Dotted lines and scribbles aplenty

Déjà Vu baddie revealed and Church builds a dream house

BY Total Film Nov 30th 2005 0:00AMFILED UNDER: Movie news

It’s taken Tony Scott some time to kick into gear with his time-travelling flick Déjà Vu but after quitting, then jumping back on board, he’s now thrown out the casting net and trawled in Jim Caviezel (The Passion Of The Christ).

Already in the frame as the lead is Denzel Washington, whose CIA agent hops about through time in an effort to save the love of his life, who perished in blast set off by Caviezel’s terrorist. With Scott at the helm it sounds just crazy enough to be a winner, don’t it?

Currently throwing sand in the eyes of Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman as, erm, Sandman, is Sideways grape-juice slurper Thomas Haden Church. After he’s done tormenting the web-slinger Church will be rolling with Ice Cube in a remake of the 1948 Cary Grant comedy Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House.

The story follows Ice Cube as Blandings, who decides to sell up, leave the city and find a place to renovate in the country. Church will play the contractor tasked with fixing up Cube’s crib and we’re sure, causing a lot of laugh along the way.
