Peter Jackson says he’d love to direct an episode of Doctor Who

Uber-geek crossover in the pipeline?

With The Hobbitnow becoming a trilogy of epic films, Peter Jackson is going to be a busy boy over the next couple of years, but that hasn’t stopped him expressing an interest in a side-project that would have fanboys salivating with anticipation.

Jackson is apparently a bit of a fan of Doctor Who, and would even be open to shooting an episode of the long-running series in his native New Zealand.

“I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt [Smith]’s fantastic,” said Jackson, when the idea was proposed to him by a local paper. “Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!”

Now obviously this is only a bit of idle chit-chat, but imagine how awesome it would be if Jackson really did get his hands on the Tardis! Okay, he might have a bit of trouble working within the BBC’s notoriously tight budget, but even so…

A Doctor Who feature film has been long mooted, although Stephen Moffat has confirmed that if it happens, it will not be a reboot. Well, if Jackson's a big fan of Smith's Doctor, perhaps he'd be the right person for the movie version...

What would you like to see Jackson do with the property? Tell us, below!

Yes! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! This really needs to happen, whether it's just an episode or a feature film.

I think one of the stand alone episodes that doesn't tie into the overall series story would suit him best. Get Del Toro to do one too. Wonder if the BBC have ever cosidered approaching major film directors about directing single episodes? Suppose the cost is one major issue though.

I completely disagree with one part of that article, I dont think he would have any trouble working with a BBC budget in the slightest, in fact, along with Sam Raimi and Kevin Smith, he would be one of the best directors to work with that budget.

Let Danny Boyle do the Dr Who Movie, at least being English (and having grown up with the series) he will have a larger grasp of the character. Just don't do an 'Oa' with Gallifrey, make it real!

I'd rather PJ directed an episode of Game Of Thrones but I've got a feeling that's a bit too extreme for him.

Chris is right PJ would have no issues with the budget just look at Bad Taste.
