Hollywood has taken a liking to re-doing fairytales of late, with Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel and Snow White all in various stages of movie production.
Now we can add Peter Pan to that list, with the pint-sized hero of J.M. Barrie’s tale apparently set for the prequel treatment, with a movie pitch entitled Peter Pan Begins currently doing the rounds.
If you sniggered, you’re not alone. But it seems that the pitch is garnering a fair bit of attention, with Channing Tatum attached to star, and Billy Ray good to go on the film’s script.
Considering this sounds like a prequel, it’s safe to bet that Tatum won’t be playing the title role – unless the character’s massively aged up, which sort of goes against the whole point of Barrie’s yarn.
Still, will Peter Pan Begins take inspiration from its namesake Batman Begins and grit-up the fairydust-splattered tale for a modern audience lusting after violence and realism?

my cat farrrted, why dont we do a prequel to that? HOw about we kill all fairy tales and let the children dwell in the nightmare of modern day reality. Yay!

haha @hadouken76 love it! so true though its like hollywood wants to take away all innocence and joy from the classic fairy tales and turn them all into violent sexed up tales of youth in revolt. lol then they wander why people blame movies when kids get messed up. haha

A well-loved story with so much potential if re-made with the right ingredients... But, alas... another absolutely shocking potential casting announcement... agree with all comment's above...

film is not what is use to be. the industry is running out of ideas so they make rly stupid useless bad movies. and what happened to the time when movies use to have to get approved to be made? hmmm...doesnt seem any of them are doing their jobs.
