It sounds like a sports biopic, but The Greatest is actually the tale of two parents (to be played by Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon) who are mired in grief after the death of their teenaged son. Into their lives comes a whirlwind of a young girl, who disrupts everything but also holds the key to the pair getting their life back on track.
It’s been written and will be directed by Shana Feste, who starts shooting in the summer. Variety’s following the story.
