Pink Panther getting animated reboot

Hires director of The Simpsons Movie

MGM is planning a reboot of the Pink Panther franchise, with an animation / live action hybrid film reportedly in the works.

However, fans of Peter Sellers (or even Steve Martin) concerned about their beloved Clouseau being replaced needn’t worry… the new film will instead focus on the animated panther of the classic title sequence.

The new film will revolve around a jewel heist, with the Panther set to remain silent for the duration, in tribute to his animated origins.

David Silverman of The Simpsons Movie has been hired to direct, while Julie Andrews, widow of long-term Panther director Blake Edwards, will be involved as an executive producer.

Perhaps most important of all however, is the news that Henry Mancini’s classic theme will be used once more. All together now…

What do you make of the reboot plans? Tell us, below!

Oh yes... because that's the only thing Julie Andrews is known for.

I demand Henri Mancini's theme tune. Nothing else matters.

It better combined live action with traditional 2D animation and not computer animation. Because I really hate how CGI is used in these kinds of movies like Hop, Yogi Bear, Aliens in the Attic, and The Smurfs.
