Ponyo trailer washes in

Hayao Miyazaki’s latest gem…

The first trailer for the latest Hayao Miyazaki film, Ponyo, has arrived online and you can see it below.

Ponyo – or to give it its full translated title, Ponyo on the Cliff By The Sea – is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid and finds the titular heroine (a young goldfish-like creature) yearning for a different life.

But when she strikes out for the human world, the balance of nature is upset and soon she faces difficult challenges…

It looks like another beautiful winner from the animation master, and while it has a big screen US release date already set (August), we still haven’t seen an announcement for the UK. Cross fingers…
