Ricardo Montalban dead at 88

RIP Star Trek II’s Khan

Actor Ricardo Montalban died Wednesday morning at his home in Los Angeles.

Montalban, who started his career in Mexican movies, arrived in Hollywood in 1946.

He made his name starring in musicals for MGM but is now better known for the likes of villain Khan Noonien Singh, which he originated on TV in Star Trek and brought to the big screen for 1982’s Star Trek II.

Spy Kids

His other big roles included the white-suited wish-granter Mr Rourke on the US TV show Fantasy Island and, more recently, playing Grandfather to the Cortez kids in Robert Rodriguez’ Spy Kids film.

There’s no word on a cause of death. He was 88. If you’ll excuse us, we’re going to go and do a Shatner-style scream of “Khaaaaaaaaaan!” for old times’ sake.
