Riddick 3 goes “back to basics”

Plot summary for sequel revealed...

Last week it was announced that Vin Diesel and David Twohy would be reuniting for a third cinematic adventure with Riddick, the intergalactic convict.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has uncovered the following plot description for the movie...

Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script features the character — the most wanted man in the galaxy — left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with “trisons” (three-legged bisons) and “mud demons.”

He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

Barren planet? Trisons? Jetcycles? Could this possibly be the best plotline ever conceived? Well, no, but there’s no denying it ticks all kinds of ‘awesome sci-fi movie’ boxes – a sort of cross breed of the first Pitch Black with Alien and Smokin’ Aces.

David Twohy wrote and directed the first two Riddick films, and has long talked about wanting to return to the franchise. Now that he’s been given the chance, it sounds like he knows exactly what he’s doing.

Excited for more Riddick?

I genuinely can't think of anything less intimidating than a three legged Bison.. apart from maybe a Mud Demon, whatever the f**k that might be

Anyone remember that terrible threequel feature Total Film did? Well, surely this is a threequel we do not need.

I'm only the person who actually liked Chronicals of Riddick, i mean it had real potential with the storyline they were going with. It was almost a wild as the series 'Lexx' The Dark Zone. I suppose they're going to disrespect everyone, by saying nobody in fact wanted to go to the underverse, so they smacked Riddick round the head with a coconut, tied him up and dumped him on another planet

I hope this is going to be great. I loved the Chronicals of Riddick. Will be even better in 3D. Riddick needs a new piece of hot totty to cheer him up!!
