Ridley Scott officially on for Monopoly

Corpse Bride’s Pamela Pettler is writing the script

Universal is officially passing go and collecting both a writer in Corpse Bride scribe Pamela Pettler and a director (Ridley Scott) for its Monopoly adaptation.

Yes, you heard us: Ridley Scott is planning to direct a film based on Monopoly.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott is looking to give whatever story can be gleaned from the game a futuristic, Blade Runner-esque feel.

Monster House

Pettler, meanwhile, has worked on Monster House and just finished work on animated adventure 9, which is being produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov.

Hopefully Scott and Pettler can forge some great tale of competing architects, or the story of a city in trouble from the board game. Because if he can’t, the man who made Alien may be going straight to director jail…

I've heard it's going to be directed by the old boot.
