With his latest film Cosmopolis set to capture the imagination of the Cannes crowd on Friday, and the finale of the Twilight saga set to drop later in the year, Robert Pattinson's stock has never been higher in Tinseltown.
Rumour has it however, that he could be about to gain a whole new army of fans, with sources linking Pattinson to a role in Catching Fire, the forthcoming sequel to The Hunger Games.
Word is that Lionsgate want Pattinson and his prodigious cheekbones to take on the role of Finnick Odair, a former tribute with an eye for the ladies, who gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell (a Hunger Games contested by previous winners).
Now while we're slightly sceptical as to whether Pattinson would really want to throw his lot in with another teen franchise post-Twilight, the fact that his Water For Elephants collaborator Francis Lawrence is now filling the director's chair could make this one a goer.
If he does accept the role, expect future Hunger Games premieres to take on the hysterical quality of their Twilight counterparts. In the meantime, you can see Pattinson in more adult fare, when Cosmopolis opens in the UK on 15 June 2012.

No no no! Considering he is 'not a fan of fame' he has been in 2 massive franchises, HP and Twilight, and now consideration for a third. I don't think this is a good idea.

OH God no! Don't let Twilight infect this fandom. They are already being compared when they are nothing alike and Hunger Games is by far the better series. Thats like comparing baby food to steak. Twilight actors need to stay in the twilight, where they cant be seen. Justin Hartley, Jensen Ackels, Garrett Hedlund or Chris Zylka should be cast. Hell- Alex Pettyfer would be better than Pattinson and he's apparently cuckoo for coco puffs!

HELL NO! Please don't let Pattinson ruin this! A different actor would be SO much better. I agree FBL Suel -the franchises are already compared because of the lead girl and love triangle thing (annoying though that is) despite THG being far superior, and they shouldn't screw that idea up by adding Pattinson, who I really can't see in the role of Finnick.

Even just down to the way the guy looks, he just isn't Finnick. I could get on board with Justin Hartley, Garret Hedlund or someone like Penn Badgley. Having said that, I think my number one choice would be Henry Cavill, he's got those sort of chiselled good looks that Finnick needs, and he'd be a huge physical presence. Maybe Superman might be a bit too much to ask though?!

Absolutely NO!!!!! He is nothing that Finnick is suppose to be!! I am a fan of Twilight and all but still don't just get him because he is famous. You want someone who can actually relate to Finnick and play his part wonderfully!!!!!!!

Admittedly haven't read the book, but from what I've heard about the character, I don't think it's that big of a deal. We KNOW Robert Pattinson can act; just because Twilight sucks doesn't mean he does. Come on guys. It'll be fine.

I can't believe all these comments about Pattinson. The guy's a decent actor. The entire Twilight hate thing is so old and juvenile. The funny thing about Twilight hate is if you hate the movies so much, why do you continue to watch them? And if you haven't watched them, how do you know he's bad?

i'll admit im a big Twilight hater big time (i watch them before deciding a twilight film is bad as you cant judge it without seeing them), kristen stewart terrible actress, taylor lautner awful actor (worse than keanu reeves & charlton heston) and the stories awful, but robert pattinson could be decent if he picks the right roles who knows cosmopololis might be the film that shows what he can do, but think he should stay away from these type of films now.... ps cant wait for the next hunger games & jensen ackles would be a great choice in my opinion :)

@Lindz28 Agree on Jensen Ackles. @TheKingofDalidab Keanu IS cool, but he CANNOT act. His best movie performances (IMO) were Speed and The Matrix. And as for Heston, I hated the whole NRA s**t too, but doubt he did it because of his illness. Are you sure it was Alzheimers, or was it Parkinsons? I can't quite jog my memory...
