Robert Rodriguez talks Sin City 2

And says Machete is ready to shoot…

Talking at the SXSW film fest, Robert Rodriguez has admitted that we could be waiting a while for Sin City 2 – but that we’re likely to see expoitactioner Machete before too long.

The ever-busy movie director/writer/producer got talking to Cinema Blend on several subjects, including Sin City 2. And the director tried to reassure us all that it is coming. Eventually.

“I always say Sin City 2 right around the corner, because that’s what everybody wants to hear and I like pleasing the audience," he tells the site, adding with some honesty for a change: "It might be a long corner.”

Looks like we’ll all have to be patient a little longer. Either that, or try to get excited by “little” Nancy Callaghan strutting her stuff with a Zimmer frame.

But there was some bright news – it would appear that Machete, the whacked out tale of revenge that formed one of the Grindhouse trailer block, is much closer to getting going.

“I’m not going to bullshit you guys. We are making Machete. We’ve already got the script and we’re ready to go.” Of course, that assumes someone will want to make the thing and he’ll have time to make it – could Machete end up getting delegated to someone else? Time will tell.

Finally, Rodriguez did his best to stir up a little controversy by comparing his next planned movie, sci fi thriller Nerverackers to a titan of the genre.

"I used to say it was, it’s kind of like Blade Runner, but that was Blade Walker. This is Blade Runner.”

Them’s fightin’ words, Rodriguez! He’d better hope Nerverackers lives up to his hype…
