Robocop back on patrol?

MGM’s plotting a return to the future of law enforcement…

Given the fact that original ideas are being slowly evaporated thanks to global warming, the studios are naturally stepping up their efforts to plunder the archives for film ideas that can be dusted off, given a lick of remake paint and then kicked off into the world anew.

Ain’t It Cool got a look at a recent MGM press release, which makes mention of the company considering several movies to which it owns the rights as possible remakes. And one is the classic, satirically violent ‘80s cyber-police thriller Robocop. Yes, we might yet see a new version of Paul Verhoeven’s US debut. But can it ever be as tough and as crazy as the original? We doubt it. What say you, forum folk? Oh, and you have 20 seconds to comply.
