Rose McGowan finds the Black Oasis

The Grindhouse star is playing B-movie star Susan Cabot

Appearing in both parts of Grindhouse obviously put Rose McGowan in the mood to stick with B-movies for her next film.

She’s signed up for Black Oasis, which will chronicle the tragic life and times of B-movie staple Susan Cabot. A favourite starlet of Roger Corman, she saw her career rise until she was murdered by her son at the age of 59.

Stephan Elliot is writing and directing the drama, which will be based on a Premiere article originally penned by John H Richardson. Producer Hilary Shor blabbed to Variety that it’s “a story in the 'stranger than fiction' style of 'Hollywood Babylon,' and a little-known chapter in the seedy underbelly of that era.”

Let’s hope it turns out a little better than Black Dahlia…
