Rosie Huntington-Whiteley joins the cast of Mad Max: Fury Road

Supermodel will play one of the 'five wives'

Mad Max: Fury Road is edging ever closer to shooting, so it's good to hear that the casting department in picking up the pace, with supermodel and Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley signing on.

The long-gestating Mad Max sequel/prequel/reboot will be a step down in the glamour stakes for Huntington-Whiteley, who wasn't exactly stretched playing the trophy girlfriend in Transformers 3, spending most of her time being leered at by Michael Bay's cameras before bringing down the baddie with some bargain-bin reverse psychology.

Expect Fury Road to have a much grubbier aesthetic, as Tom Hardy takes the Road Warrior mantle from Mel Gibson to play 'Mad' Max Rockatansky.

It's unclear exactly what the role of the 'five wives' will be, though apparently they'll be travelling across the movie's wasteland setting, and no doubt crossing paths with Max.

Huntington-Whiteley joins Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keogh and Adelaide Clemens in the quintet, with the fifth wife yet to be cast.

They're not the only ladies in the movie though, with Charlize Theron (who has shaved off her hair for the part) starring opposite Hardy.

George Miller directs Mad Max: Fury Road, which is currently without a release date.

Are you surprised to see Huntington-Whiteley in another blockbuster role after Transformers 3? Let us know below…

what the hell??!! 2 great actors in Charlize Theron & Tom Hardy and R.H-W ?? it just doesnt seem right... if shes playing one of the 5 wives hopefully she'll be the one not saying much, unless of course shes been taking acting classes since transformers 3 and has improved (we can hope)

Makes Megan Fox look like Meryl Streep FFS. My interest in this film just took a blow, but anyways at least we got the infinitely more talented and beautiful Ms Theron...

"ok I thought Rosie Huntington Whiteley was a great actress in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" For Christ's sake, someone take this idiot's keyboard away from him.

I said this at the time and i still say it now, in Transformers, her acting is not THAT bad, certainly not as bad as some people make out it to be(the worst actor in that movie was Lebeouf), and id say her acting was better than Fox (granted this isn't saying much). She may look like a glorified blow up doll(which i don't think she does, id say she has a weird air of very attractive-but-cant-tell-why about her, but that's what wardrobe and make up are for, to grim her up good. She isn't the best addition to a movie, but she wont be the worst either.

After months of reading some truly bizarre opinions from 'TheKingOfCinema', I simply had to open an account to respond to this latest 'gem'! 'Rosie Huntington Whiteley was great in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon'??!!?? The whole franchise is an absolute travesty, but the unquestionable low point of the entire series so far was the painfully cringe-worthy performance of RHW. She managed to look out of her depth as an actress in a role that required no acting talent whatsoever- quite an achievement when you think about it! As for 'TheKingOfCinema', you f***ing plumb, what was your favorite female performance prior to this, Sophia Coppola in The Godfather 3 perhaps?

i really enjoyed the transformer movies, but when it came to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley it was just about how lovely she looked in the skimpiest outfits (like megan fox in the first 2).. and i know im probably going to be called a creepy pervert by KoC beacause i didnt mind that. but overall i loved transformers for the mindless fun it is, i think Shia Lebeouf is a very good actor, but needs to stay clear of blockbusters and get involved in something where he can show his range hopefully lawless is a chance

You have just proved my point KOC. Marilyn Monroe, as iconic as she was, was hardly renowned for her acting abilities! Still, you are entitled to your own opinion my friend, even if it that opinion is wrong!!

@Ali1748 - I know that he was desperate for a response, but when they're so wildly out of whack, the need is there to give him the 'love' he craves in order to get another disproportionate comment. The guy's mad, clearly, but by GOD is he funny.

KOC: Your argument for everything would appear to be to hurl a few profanities, and then follow up with the statement, 'It's my opinion'. Just so you know, opinions CAN be wrong!! For example; A racist has the opinion that people of differing ethnicities are inferior to themselves...that is their opinion, but they are wrong!! In your opinion, Rosie Huntington Whiteley is a good actress...you are wrong!!!!

@TheKingofCinema You are truly the best example of care in the community gone wrong. You really do have issues and your opinions are not the problem its the way you respond to people who don't agree with you. You seem to just fly off the handle worse than Bruce Banner with PMT after The Thing did a s**t on his Xmas dinner! But I do have to say I enjoy reading these outbursts. I'm starting to try and find articles that will draw you out and jump straight to the comments to see which s**t actor in most peoples eye you think is the the best and then i count the stars in your next response when someone disagrees. You are starting to become some what of a legend but i feel you should change your name to reflect what you really are. Ladies and gentlemen I give you.......TheTroll ofCinema!
