Rumour: Batman-Superman movie title confirmed?

What will the Man Of Steel sequel be called?

Zack Snyder’s theatrical announcement that confirmed the Man Of Steel sequel would feature Batman was one of the most seismic pieces of movie news to come out of 2013’s Comic-Con.

And, according to ComicBook.com, writer David S. Goyer discussed the news in a panel celebrating Superman’s 75th Anniversary, revealing potential titles for the movie. After describing Harry Lennix’s quote-reading, Goyer said, “We’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015.

“We’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman Vs Batman or Batman Vs Superman but yes, it’s that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

ComicBook.com then did some digging on domain names, and found that Warner Bros had registered SupermanVsBatman.com and BatmanVsSuperman.com. And while they’ve registered BatmanVsSupermanMovie.com, they haven’t registered SupermanVsBatmanMovie.com, leaving CB to conclude that Batman Vs Superman is the most likely title for the film.

While there’s been no official announcement yet, it’s interesting that Goyer has suggested that they will go down the route of a straightforward, direct title that points to a clash of DC’s titans. When you’ve got two such iconic characters, you probably don’t want to confuse comics-shy cinemagoers with a title like World’s Finest

Do you think Batman Vs Superman would be a good title for the film? Tell us below…

Wait so it's not a Man of Steel sequel then? Kinda bummed about that cause I felt the first one really paved the way for Lex Luther to come into the sequel and give an actor out there one juicy role. I can't complain about seeing Batman and Superman together on screen though.

Superman gives Bruce a kryptonite ring because supes knows that if things turn out for the worst, Batman is the only person who CAN defeat him. but who would play he caped crusader now that Bale has said no?

Hope they don't go with that title. Seems a little too 'B' movie to be a film title for my liking.

I like the idea of Jon Hamm playing Batman but I just can't see WB going down that route.

There's no reason why this can't be the Man Of Steel sequel with or without Lex Luthor - it hasn't been written yet! And as they've confirmed Cavill, Adams & Fishburne are back, it certainly seems like it'll be a sequel. Don't forget that kryptonite hasn't been introduced yet, so it could be something Wayne Enterprises is working on to keep Supes under control, in case he goes rogue. As for Jon Hamm, good call, but it depends if they go down the older Batman route - unlikely if they want to bring in a new actor with an eye on the Justice League movie.

World's Finest: Batman Vs Superman with Thomas Jane as Batman....I figure they'll go the route that Batman has been around for a while in Gotham and has established himself as a superhero (so a little older and craggy - hence the suggestion of Thomas Jane...great jaw, great voice, physically imposing, looks like Bruce Wayne) and following the events of MoS he goes to investigate the utter devastation in Metropolis. I think Goyer has mentioned that Clark will have to face some of the repercussions of his actions (destroying all those buildings / killing Zod) and I would wager that Batman is none too happy that a powerful "God" is loose on earth taking no responsibility for his actions. Bruce Wayne will probably find out info about Supes from Lex Luthor (as big business men we can assume they'll probably have known each other before the events of MoS) and will use Kryptonite to subdue him (hence why they didn't use it in the first film - would have been a lame to use it in two movies) .... cue Supes helping Batman to defeat a more powerful foe halfway through the movie (it won't be Joker, Riddler et al - more likely to be Solomon Grundy or Brainiac) and then, possibly, a link into Justice League as they become friends and decide to search out other super heroes around the globe (Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Green Arrow I would think) END CREDITS (post credit scene with either Doomsday or Darkseid)

Actually, thinking about it and with some of the comments above, could this be a way to re-introduce Nolan's take on Batman? In know they've already said that the two films are in seperate universes, but if Wayne was 'retired' and saw what was going on in Metropolis, could that prompt him to don the cape and cowl again to look at ways of stopping Superman? I personally hope they do - i hated (absolutely HATED) the way Nolan ended TDKR, but i don't really want another origins story about a new Batman. They have to change the title though. Batman Vs Superman sucks.

I really think they'll leave the Nolan version alone. They don't need an origin story as people are well aware of it by now (Burton's Batman just showed relevant flashbacks which I'm sure this new film will also do) but I don't see them needing to use Bale's Batman at all. What's more I'm sure they'll want to use Robin, Nightwing etc etc and Nolan's story doesn't allow for the "classic" versions of Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Tim Drake in it's world. By using an older, more world-weary Batman they would be able to create a brand new take on the character that doesn't really contradict Nolan's world but is also clearly a different character.

Si - I think the problem is Bale is pretty cold about carrying on the franchise without Nolan, and correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe he's all that keen and building towards a Justice League movie, which at the end of the day is the whole point of going down this route in the first place. WB could probably pay Bale a ridiculous amount to done the cowl again but I really only want Christian to return if he's dedicated to getting JLA off the ground.

This is such a terrible idea - shame, because for an hour Man of Steel was good (second half was terrible) and we could have had a new trilogy in the class of The Dark Knight. They could have had Lex Luther and Brainiac as villains in the sequel and then Doomsday (Supermans version of Bane) in the third. Instead, they rush this s**t idea together to make it more for kids and so increase revenue. Snyder has sold out too - I remember him being asked at an interview who would win between the two and he rolled his eyes and basically replied that it was a dumb question (man in a suit vs a super being..). Now he is making a film about it? I will not be going to see this or any of the Avengers type c**p - think my days of comic book movies are over (with the exception of Sin City 2) as it is getting out of control. They just keep churning out loads of dross now. By the way, did anyone else notice the ludicrous product placement in Man of Steel? It was insane and tells you how much the studio interfered with it - can't imagine it said in the script "Close up - girl holds her Nokia phone up to the camera"..
