There’s been much geek debate as to just how The Wolverine will fit in with the continuity of the existing X-Men universe, and it seems that a familiar face will be dropping in to tie a few story strands together.
According to We Got This Covered, Famke Janssen has filmed a cameo role in James Mangold’s film, appearing as Wolvie’s long-standing love interest, Jean Grey.
The last time we saw Jean, she was dying in Wolverine’s arms at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, having been overcome by the terrible power of the Phoenix. However, since The Wolverine takes place before the events of that film, it makes sense that she could appear here.
“One never knows,” said Janssen, when asked about a possible return to the series earlier this month. “Jean Grey, the Phoenix... she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows. Stay tuned.”
And given that Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to jump back and forth through time like nobody’s business, perhaps this won’t be the last we see of the lovely Jean. Fingers crossed…

Spolier much? Nice one muppets! If I'm not mistaken you're meant to be journalists, not rumour w***es; would it not be better to label this with an air of secrecy and only those who want to know will open the story? You put the damn thing in the title on your main page!

Oh give it a rest Ross. Why don't you start your own movie spoiler-free website and shut up. See if it is as easy as you make out to be. As for the Famke Jenssen returning to her role of Jean Grey, I am excited. It brings it all back to the glory days of the first two X-Men movies!

I thought this was meant to be set before the X-Men days? How on earth does a Jean Grey cameo make sense? "Shoehorning" springs to mind, would rather see her in DOFP to be honest.

I'd much rather see her in Days of Future Past along with some other characters like Prof X and Cyclops. I just hope that film changes the timeline so the latter two never died. I don't think Wolverine fits in very well but if it's set in Japan then it doesn't really have to fit in with any continuity set by the other films.
