Rumour: Justice League problems to delay Batman reboot?

We could see a Man Of Steel trilogy first

The Justice League movie continues to plough a tortuous furrow, with the latest reports suggesting that it could be as far away as 2020 before the film sees the light of day.

We had previously heard that the film's release was at least some way contingent upon a strong box-office performance from Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel, but apparently, the situation is more complicated than that.

According to Batman On Film, a strong performance by Man Of Steel will see Warner turn that franchise into a trilogy before turning their attention to a superhero team-up.

However, should Man Of Steel tank, word is the studio will focus its energies upon rebooting the Batman franchise with a new standalone movie featuring a new man in the suit. That estimated 2020 release date is based on the quick turnaround of the MOS trilogy, followed by a new Batman movie - it's certainly not an official notice.

Either way, it seems as though Justice League is gradually slipping onto the back burner, with Will Beall's script also failing to impress studio chiefs. Looks like it will be a while before we see Bats and Supes teaming up...

Would you rather see a Superman trilogy or a Justice League movie? Tell us, below!

Thank goodness for this! The Justice League movie was going in the same direction the Green Lantern film was in. They need to do what Marvel did and sit down and think of a way to bring all these superheroes together, which means having every character get their own movie in order to introduce the audience to the character they'll be less familiar with i.e. Flash, Wonder Woman etc. With Star Wars VII and Avengers 2 coming out in 2015 there is no chance JL would stand out. Get started on those individual movies and maybe we may see a good film in 2020. Also, I agree with Mark Miller, modernise those characters!

Rebooting the Batman franchise? Already? well, i can only hope that Man of Steel does well at the box office. I don't really see Justice League happening in any case. They don't seem to have a game plan like Marvel did.

oh for heavens sake.my vote is for warners to offer an unfeasibly large amount of money to Alan Moore to write it, they could always promise not to mention his name or anything. they could buy him Northampton, that should do it.

I agree DC/WBros have not really planned this film out and how it will fit in the minds of the fans, waiting is this best thing to do, the fans will be happy to wait as long as possible inorder to get this film right - I mean The Avengers we waited a long time we can do it again

This definitely offers a couple of positive points. Namely the fact that they're going to develop the DC world further before jumping into Justice League. And even though I shudder at the idea of a Batman reboot so soon, if they are going to make JL work, I think we do need to see a new Batman before it comes out. If I were the studio, I'd be pushing it back even further.

Thank f**k - its a bad idea anyway. They should focus on making the Man of Steel stuff great as they did with Batman (get Nolan and Goyer involved for a trilogy) then after that maybe they would be in better shape to do an Avengers clone (if they must). And we dont need another Batman so soon - there will come a time when it is right to revisit the character but to do it so soon after the great Nolan trilogy would be a disaster and a poisoned chalice for a new director and any actor playing Bruce Wayne (Bale nailed it).

I think @sanjanatwittes has a good point but I agree more with @dangoodfellow. Does anyone else feel like some of the Marvel films were a little bit lacking because they were part of The Avengers lead-up? Maybe only Captain America made me feel that way. It sounds like Warner / DC don't have a strong vision, I'm happy to wait and see a few new stand-alone trilogies, would be cooler if Justice League came out of nowhere and was amazing and didn't waste an hour of screen time setting itself up via a montage of predictable 'call-to-arms' scenes

It is quite interesting when you consider that Batman and Superman alone themselves are probably the two most iconic, recogniseable superheroes in terms of film and television adaptations - can't think of any other character with such a rich history of being portrayed on the big and small screens (maybe closest one would be the Hulk, but even that is a stretch). Surely any leading film to a shared DC cinematic universe would utilise this and base it on those two characters. It then wouldn't be such a difficult task to shoe-in others in the same movie and introduce them that way if you don't need to be concerned with Batman and Superman.

A Batman reboot is inevitable, we may not like it but there's nothing we can do other than boycott the movie.

The problem Warner Bro's have with JL is that they're wanting to repeat Marvel Studio's success without putting the effort in and that's not how it works. Marvel had 5 very successful, very good films leading up to their team up film which established each character and establish the extended universe. If WB want to have Marvel's success they're going to need successful films for at least half of the JL's line-up. I want a good Justice League film and I want WB to have a successful run with the franchises but they have to want it too.

If ever there's a film that deserves to languish in development hell, it's Justice League.

Anything that keeps Snyder away from Star Wars is fine with me. I think it would be wise to have a new Batman with no continuity to the Dark Knight series for Justice League. One without the stupid voice.

They should definitely wait a long time before making a film, otherwise it will just be rushed. I would love to see a film about The Flash, and a Wonder Woman film first. However I have feeling that this justice league film won't get made for ages (if ever)
