Rumours seems to come from ever more spurious realms these days –but Katee Sackhoff has been spotted in LA’s Golden Apple comics buying up Marvel titles featuring the character Typhoid Mary.
Yes, we know, we know… it’s hardly the most reliable source, but when the store’s blog reports that the Battlestar Galactica veteran mentioned she was trying to get a part in a Marvel movie, that makes things a little more interesting.
Plus, Sackhoff is something of a genre favourite following her turn as Starbuck in the show.
But casting rumours aside, who is Typhoid Mary? She’s a character originating in the Daredevil titles and was created by Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr.
A mutant with a serious dissociative identity disorder, she has three distinct personalities – pacifist Mary, adventurous Typhoid and the brutal, seething Bloody Mary.
At different times she’s been Matt “Daredevil” Murdock’s lover and also one of his worst enemies. But she’s also tackled with Deadpool. She was briefly seen on screen in Elektra, but the character displayed little similarity with the Marvel creation besides her name.
Which brings her to the Marvel movie universe. We know Fox wants to reboot Daredevil and that there is talk of a Deadpool film after Ryan Reynolds’ work in Wolverine.
Could Sackhoff nab the role should the character be worked into either film? Well, based on the pic, she certainly could – we’re pretty sure she could carry off the role.
For now, though, this one’s strictly in rumour-land. Slow news day, anyone?
