Rumour: Transformers 4 will have a female lead character

Who will replace Shia LaBeouf?

The latest rumour to emerge from Michael Bay’s forthcoming Transformers 4 is an intriguing one, with the suggestion being that the film will feature a female protagonist.

Up until now, female roles in the franchise have largely amounted to standing around in increasingly revealing outfits and screaming every so often. And to be fair, Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have done that very well.

However, according to Spoiler TV, Bay is now keen to change all that, with the leading role set to be a female one. With Shia LaBeouf having dropped out some months ago, it looks like he’ll be getting a girly-shaped replacement in the coming months.

The character is set to be a high school senior, whose boyfriend is a Texan racecar driver. Sounds about right, doesn’t it? The casting search is apparently well underway for both.

Bay recently suggested that the new movie will be his last entry in the series, so he’ll be looking to go out with a bang. Well, a bigger bang than usual. Transformers 4 will open in the UK on 27 June 2014.

What do you think of Bay's plans? Tell us, below!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley couldn't even manage to wring a performance out of her meagre talent, instead prefereing to stand around looking like a glorified blow-up doll . Now, she is going to ruin the Mad Max franchise. The casting directors must be complete plums.

To be fair, i think you'd need a human protagonist in any Transformers film to give it that connection to the audience. I don't reckon a film based on Cybertron alone would work.

Crazy idea but why not use the human characters that were in the transformers series.

I just watched the third turd in this franchise last weekend and cant understand how these films keep getting made. these films are marginally better than the underworld/ resident evil schlock that is pumped out every 2 years. Michael Bay should forget about making sequels and stick with what he's good at: Stand alone explosive action films that are forgettable until shown at night on some tv channel whereupon you think to yourself "I saw that few years ago, I think it was alright. anything else on..... no......, ok. lets see it again, maybe it improves if I get blindly drunk".

This would be fine if he hired an actress that could... you know, act, instead of those 'real sex dolls' he keeps casting... He'll probably do the same with April O Neill in the Turtles movie FFS.
