Rupert Friend says bonjour to Cheri
He and Kathy Bates have signed on to Stephen Frears’ historical drama

Pride & Prejudice’s Rupert Friend just can’t keep away from those period costumes – no sooner is he out of Prince Albert’s costume for The Young Victoria, he’s jumping into the britches of Cheri for Stephen Frears.
The plot revolves around the title character (Friend) a spoiled, rich French whelp sent by his mum (Kathy Bates) to get a little adult education with courtesan best mate Lea de Lonval (Michelle Pfeiffer). But they fall in love, only to be cruelly torn apart when Cheri has to marry someone else.
The Hollywood Reporter is following the dangerous liaison.
