Ryan Gosling uncovers The Lovely Bones

Another casting coup for Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson’s first post-Kong project – his adaptation of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones – is shaping up to be something special, even though it won’t feature massive orc armies or a rampaging simian.

With Rachel Weisz already cast, Jackson has pulled off another coup: Ryan Gosling. The notoriously picky Half Nelson star has agreed to play the father of Susie Salmon, the main character who narrates her story from beyond after she gets murdered. Her parents (Gosling and Weisz) suffer from her loss even as her killer prepares to strike again.

Jackson plans to start shooting the movie, scripted with regular collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, in October, once the team has found its Susie.
