Pacific Rim has released a new clip online, in which a mash-up of various fictional news reports describe an attack on San Francisco by one of the giant Kaiju monsters.
“San Francisco has now become a war zone” blares one broadcaster, as military jets are scrambled. And from the looks of the Golden Gate Bridge, he’s not exaggerating…
The actual footage of the Kaiju itself is understandably brief, but its enough to convince us that Guillermo del Toro hasn’t lost any of his flair for creating truly grotesque monsters.
Take a look, below…
The film will see Earth battling to resist an alien attack, with the defending forces eventually deploying giant, human-piloted robots in order to fend off the marauding invaders. From the looks of the new footage, it promises to be quite an even fight.
And if you're interested in joining the resistance, Wired has got its hands on a blueprint for one of the giant 'Jaeger' mecha-suits:

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and co-starring Idris Elba, Ron Perlman and Rinko Kikuchi, Pacific Rim will open in the UK on 12 July 2013.

I'll be honest. I'm not impressed. It looks cheesey as hell. The robot design is horribly cartoony and yes it did remind me of Godzilla... the s**t Hollywood version. And Idris Elba in that suit reminds me of GI Joe.
