Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy star in red-band trailer for The Heat

Check out Paul Feig's Bridesmaids follow-up

A new trailer has arrived for The Heat, director Paul Feig's follow-up to Bridesmaids in which Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy play a mismatched double-act of uptight FBI agent and badass cop.

Bullock stars as prissy by-the-book Sarah Ashburn, a Federal Agent forced into partnership with McCarthy's foul-mouthed cop Shannon Mullins in the pursuit of a ruthless drug lord.

Much mismatched hilarity ensues as Mullins tries to get Ashburn to loosen up, getting her on the dancefloor, plying her with drink and having her chuck a few grenades about.

Take a look, below:

Admittedly, this doesn't look in the Bridesmaids league in terms of humour, but given the hoary old subject matter, that's to be expected. What we do have is a promising buddy-comedy, with Bullock and McCarthy looking a well-matched double-act.

Co-starring Michael Rapaport, Demián Bichir and Thomas F. Wilson, The Heat will open in the UK on 5 April 2013.

Wow, what a waste of time that was. Quite possibly the laziest, unfunniest, painfully cliched film ever written, The 'jokes' were emailed 2 weeks in advance, no doubt dreamt up by 13 screenwriters who have never seen a buddy-cop parody. 'Loudmouth fat one' + 'Uptight prissy one', have them hate each other for 45 minutes, then bond over drinking and dancing to take take down generic bad guy CEO / drug baron. Mix and dispense. Watch 21 Jump Street or The Other Guys ('aim for the bushes' stil cracks me up) to regain sanity.

Melissa McCarthy is so far from being funny that it amazes me how she is even getting roles at all. She wasn't even good in Bridesmaids. She needs to stop making movies.
