Scooby Doo: The Prequel?

Um, hooray?

However you feel about the Scooby Doo live action movies (don’t ask), you can’t deny that they were successful. Successful enough that, four long years since the sequel Warners is looking to do a little Batman Begins-style reworking of the franchise.

Gone are the likes of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Matthew Lillard, and in their place will be a young group of thesps as Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy with no doubt a suitably de-aged Scoob. The studio has hired prequel “expert” Brian Levant (who directed The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas) to call the shots and, if Moviehole’s story comes to pass, may even consider making Velma an Asian schoolgirl. Nothing like a little diversity to boost your box office…
