A new trailer has arrived online for Steve McQueen’s sex-addiction drama Shame, and a rather beautiful one at that.
Accompanied by Carey Mulligan’s soulful, heartbreaking rendition of New York, New York, the new trailer artfully illustrates Michael Fassbender’s on-screen problems through a series of wordless encounters with a string of beautiful women.
Indeed, the only word of dialogue uttered in the entire trailer is a husky, “slowly” from Fassbender to a disrobing lady.

Capturing the film’s pervading sense of melancholy to a tee, it’s the perfect teaser for what is already shaping up to be one of the most acclaimed films of 2012.
Shame arrives in UK cinemas on 13 January 2012.
What do you make of Carey's singing voice? And what about Fassbender's brooding? Thoughts below, please!
