Silver Samurai stars in new poster for The Wolverine

Meet the villain of the piece…

The Wolverine has released a new poster online, with chief antagonist the Silver Samurai taking centre stage for the first time.

The new poster keeps to the Japanese design aesthetic of previous teaser posters, simply showing the armour-clad Samurai alongside the film’s official release date.

The illegitimate son of Yakuza bigshot Shingen Yashida, the Samurai is a Japanese mutant capable of charging his fearsome blade with an energy burst, making it capable of cutting through almost any material.

Can you guess which material happens to be the exception? That’s right… good old adamantium. Should make for quite the throwdown between him and Wolvie then, shouldn’t it?

Directed by James Mangold and co-starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee and Tao Okamoto, The Wolverine will open in the UK on 26 July 2013.

Take a look at the full poster, below…

Is it just me or does Silver Samurai look, like, twice the size of Wolvie in the trailer? If it is, I think there will be more than just 'charging his blade' going on.... That confused me when I saw it.

Has more of a mecha feel than a samurai look. One look at that and it comes off more like a promo for either Pacific Rim or the new Transformers flick.

Doesn't look as cool as the Logan one.

At least the Logan one had the claws so you knew wha it was for - are any of the non-comic fans out there going to know what this poster is for? How many are going to think its something to do with Transformers i wonder.
