Sony off on a Maximum Ride

Adapting the tale of genetically altered teens…

It must be a right old pain in the neck for the main character of James Patterson’s Maximum Ride book series. They were born genetically tinkered to be 98% human and 2% bird, so they all have wings. But sick of being used as lab rats, they escape, only for their evil scientist creators to send a pack of part-human-part-wolf hunters known as erasers after them.

Now Sony has decided that the Ride gang would make for an excellent movie, and have nabbed the rights, with Avi Arad shepherding the film to the screen. Don Payne, who wrote Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, will scribble the script.

Variety has wings.
