Spider-Man and Men In Black III start dates

It's a date!

Men In Black

Spider-Man and Men In Black III have both officially pencilled their start dates into their respective Barbie calendars.

Marc Webb will jump behind the camera to reboot the Spidey franchise this December. Shooting (of various forms) will commence in Los Angeles, though there’s no word if the production will also head to Peter Parker’s spiritual home of New York for filming there.

Hopefully that means by Christmas we’ll have a few shots of Andrew Garfield leaping about in his new Spider-Man costume – the perfect yuletide gift for film fans.

Meanwhile, one production that is definitely heading to New York is Men In Black III, which will begin shooting in the Big Apple this September.

Spider-Man opens on 3 July, 2012. Men In Black III opens on 25 May, 2012.

Will you be stalking the productions?

they only start shooting in December ? Hmm, I have a feeling a great deal of the film will be done in post production with, considering the budget, fairly shoddy CGI. Here's hoping Garfield's sure to be stellar performance raises the film's game.

To be honest i dont think it makes a difference, because if we're talking box office then potentially even if new spidey does even half as good as the previous trilogy, who's to say they wont reboot it again in another less then a decade? lets face it before the dark knight, the spidey franchise was the most successful super hero franchise. but due to spidey 3 being weaker than the previous 2 they have decided to reboot!!! in comparison to other marvel efforts spidey 3 looked liked a masterpiece, e.g, daredevil, elektra, ghost rider(which i quite liked) fantstic 4,(which is also being rebooted and made DARKER!!!!!) X-Origins..(X-MEN first class now taking place, which is a discreet way of saying....PREQUAL/RE-BOOT, EVEN IF SINGER DOES MAKE X4)........dont even get me started on the current Avengers debaucle......no Norton for hulk? then who gives a toss? im looking forwatd to deadpool though, but seriously, green lantern?ant man?..........MARVEL HAVE LOST IT!!!!!!!!BUT DID THEY EVER HAVE IT???????

Mattsimus, I think The right decision was made about rebooting the spiderman franchise, Spiderman 3 was utter S**te and the franchise had hit a dead end by rebooting they can try and go for a new look new themes and new issues not to mention hopefully giving Venom a proper big screen realisation, also not to nit pick but Green Lantern is a DC comics property.

Hey dudes, sure no probs Liamio2802 i was wrong about Green lantern being Marvels but seriously im pretty sure its accurate to point out that TDK has prompted many a re-boot/spin-off etc....n although im all for inspirational movie making, spidey 3 wasnt sooo bad that the franchise needs to be remade, oh n Fuzzy mate listen i had a lie down a long sleep n i woke up to the smell of a Marvel overload or whats currently known as Quantity over Quality..............sleep well Fuzzcakes x

Hey guys, yes true i was wrong about Green lantern being Marvels, but listen spidey wasnt so bad that they need to remake the entire franchise! lets be honest TDK has prompted many a re-make/re-boot/spin off and the fact that spidey hit a dead end was a good indication that its prob a great place to end it not re-start!!! Venom def was my fave villain but who's to say that even if they get that right that they wont screw the wrest of it? then ten yrs down the line they decide again to re-boot, there comes a point where ya need to just say hey MAYBE WE SHOULD MAKE A DIFFERENT MOVIE AND BE ORIGINAL! oh and hey Fuzzy, mate i had a lie down, a sleep and i woke up to the smell of a Marvel overload or whats quite simply known as QUANTITY OVER QUALITY............Sleep well Fuzzydunlop1........

hahahaa. I agree with Mattismus to a certain degree, even though I didn't think Daredevil was so bad, but a few things bother me about the next few years. Andrew Garfield is 26 now, when the new Spidey film comes out he'll be 29, and he's supposed to be portraying a guy in his late teens. They're just going to have the same problem they had with Tobey Maguire, you wake up one day and Spider-Man in 35, and then you HAVE to reboot because Spider-Man is a young man's role. Batman can be 40,but Spider-Man can't. Also, there's a veritable plethora of super hero flicks coming out in the next two years. Captain America, Green Lantern, Thor, Avengers, Iron Man 3, Batman 3, X-Men First Class....The list goes on. Firstly my mind boggles at how Marvel will get The Avengers looking decent and have enough cash for a good villian. but also, are the general public not just going to get sick of super-hero films when so many are squeezed into such a small amount of time ?

Actually a great point about the age thing, ya can get away with it with Batman but not spidey, just stick to what you've made and make better sequals instead of putting everyone through a repeated franchise, i never thought id hear myself say id prefer a sequal to a reboot!!! oh and i didnt really think Daredevil was bad but actually did prefer Elektra......which was kinda poor! Not a fan of Affleck though!...........
