Spielberg and Hanks head to the Pacific

A new World War II miniseries

The last time Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks went to war over television, they were arguing about whether to watch a Seinfeld repeat or a Friends marathon. Okay, maybe not… They brought us World War Two miniseries Band Of Brothers.

Now they’re headed back into the conflict for Pacific, a 10-part series that will chronicle the battles in… well…. the Pacific. With a budget of $150 million and roles for around 280 Australian actors, the cameras start rolling this August Down under.

The same production team behind Band Of Brothers will be making the show, with Bruce McKenna, who wrote several Band episodes overseeing the scribbling staff. They haven’t started casting the show yet, but chances are it’ll hit the airwaves later next year.
