Spike Jonze influences Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Peter Laird has been talking up the live action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it sounds like he’s taken a leaf out of Spike Jonze’s book.
Turtle creator Laird’s comments about the ‘hybrid’ effects sound remarkably similar to what Jonze set out to achieve with Where The While Things Are.
"So here we go — another live action film! As you may recall from some of my previous comments, our initial discussions regarding the next film had to do with what we were calling a 'hybrid' — live action with realistic Turtles rendered in CGI and blended in,” Laird Said.
“This new idea — which, frankly, I am VERY pumped about — will have actors and stunt performers in full Turtle suits for filming in live action. As of right now, there is talk of using CGI to do 'face replacement' for the suits so that we can get those great, expressive faces possible with CGI."
Which is great news as far as we’re concerned. We weren’t big fans of the last, CGI, Turtles movie. It was rubbish.

this sounds awesome. the old school turtles movies were pretty good. a Joneseque live action one will be ace.

I thought the cgi movie was better than the last 2 live action ones. I hear this is yet another reboot though. Spare us for f**ks sake. Turtles fall in ooze, mutate and get trained as ninjas. Theres your origin story.Lets see Rat King or Leatherhead or some cool stories from the comics in this one

Sounds like the technique Guillermo Del Toro used for Hellboy 2, which worked great. Shame it has to be those s*dding Turtles though. They're so 1988!
