Spike Lee tackles a Time Traveller

A biopic, not a sci-fi adventure…

Don’t go getting all excited when you read that Spike Lee has just nabbed the rights to a book called Time Traveller. Put all thoughts of characters from Do The Right Thing travelling at 88mph from your brain.

Because the tome in question is actually Ronald Mallett’s memoir, subtitled A Scientist’s Personal Mission To Make Time Travel A Reality, and chronicles his rise from poverty on the mean streets to an acclaimed scientific career. And his driving ambition to perfect time travel so that he can go back and save his father, paradoxes be damned.

Lee splashed his own cash to get the rights to the book and will co-write and direct. Variety is getting up to 1.21 gigawatts on the story.
