Steve Carell is considering starring in Brigadier Gerard for the independent company MRC.
The film follows French soldier Etienne Gerard during the Napoleonic wars, a man who believes he’s the bravest trooper on the battlefield but is sadly misguided, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
King Of The Hill TV writers John Altshuler and David Krinsky have based the script on short stories originally penned by Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Hiatus possibility
It sounds like prime stuff for Carell, who specialises known for clueless men like Michael Scott in the US version of The Office.
But the film will have to fight for room on his busy schedule. He’s planning to shoot just one film in his hiatus from his TV gig and there’s already Warners’ Get Smart sequel and Date Night at Fox competing to his attention.
Perhaps there’s the seed of a reality show in this, with Carell handing a rose to the film he likes the best.
