Today it was confirmed that American comedian Steve Carell is attached to Jonathan Herman’s script Conviction.
The previously black-listed screenplay, which was originally conceived as a ‘Heat-esque’ thriller, has now been transformed into an action comedy, apparently comparable to 48 Hours and Ocean's Eleven. So probably a bit like Tower Heist then.
Carell, who made his name on The Daily Show With John Stewart, has been a prolific Hollywood comedic figure since his roles in Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy, The 40 Year Old Virgin and Little Miss Sunshine.
He will also produce the film with Andrew Rona and Joel Silver.
The script is awaiting a final redraft and no release date has been set as of yet.
